Neuroscience of Meditation Discussion with Dr. Richard Davidson and Matthieu Ricard

Below is a link to listen to a fabulous discussion with neuroscientist Dr. Richard Davidson and Tibetan Buddhist monk Matthieu Ricard on, “What Modern Science Is Revealing About the Ancient Practice of Meditation”. Both men were generous in sharing their historical relationship with meditation, and the twists and turns of scientifically studying the processes for awakening wisdom and compassion in the human mind and heart.

Topics discussed ranged from history of meditation research in the West, neuroplasticity, effects of compassion meditation, inborn morality and kindness traits in humans, effects of meditation on the body, neuroscience of consciousness, indications of wakeful awareness during non-REM sleep. Enjoy! And many thanks to Tergar International for sponsoring this event and uploading the recording to the Internet.
